More Asia'h Epperson Videos on YouTube

It has been totally quiet on this blog for quite a while. I sort of zoned out of the online world and took a new job that challenge me a bit. I had to concentrate on it and get a good feel before I do anything else. It took my focus for a few months. Now that I already have a good grasp of the things I need to do there. I've come back blogging away again. I love blogging and blogging about the things, people, events and stuff that I like.

I looked around for Asia'h on YouTube and found these videos. Totally, there's been a quiet blanket that surrounded Asia'h lately. I'm sure she's pretty busy but probably on a low key. Search on news for her didn't really yield anything new.

Thanks to YouTube user kristimly for the videos.

On the American Idol front, there seems to be quite a few changes coming up for the new season which include fewer audition episodes and more Hollywood-round episodes, the semifinalist rounds will feature the top 36 contestants instead of 24, the return of the "wild card" round, and no more charity show.

What's Keeping David Archuleta Busy These Days

As this season's (2008) American Idol ended, David Archuleta is keeping busy by working on a few projects lined up for the runner-up of 2008's American Idol. For sure, we think he's having a great time and getting the much needed rest. But as it turned out, he's got lots of things going on. He's not complaining though. No, he sure is having fun and adjusting well on his newfound fame. I'm sure he's gonna be a future success story in the music industry.

The Brouhaha on a Foiled Concert
It was reported that his father, Jeff Archuleta organized an appearance at the E-Center for a charity show for the young David. But, Idol officials didn't allow it as the father didn't ask permission from the American Idol producers. As you know, David is under contract with AI. The "American Idol" spokesperson further stated that the solo event would dilute interest in the "Idol" concert tours as the tour will stop at the E-Center on July 14 and 15 giving the fans the chance to see David Archuleta perform with the rest of the contestants.

So what is David Archuleta Working on Lately?
First, he's working on a new album. Yes, AI and Asia'h Epperson fans, that's the benefit of being high up there in the top ten. You get to have an album even though you didn't win the top spot. Record deals come quicker. Secondly, he's updating his MySpace. Yup, he knows the value of networking on the internet and being close with fans online. He's a savvy young genius. He even did his first video blog to thank all the fans of American Idol who voted for and supported him. These are eventually the same people who will shoot him to musical superstardom.

Finally, he's preparing with the rest of the top 10 for this summer's Idol concert tours. It's gonna be one great trip for all our Idols as they tour around the country. For most of this bunch of 2008 Idol hopefuls, it will be the adventure of their lifetime as they go meet and be closer with fans. Fans who will probably buy their albums or go to their concerts when they go solo if they ever decide on embarking a musical career afterwards.

The concert series will give them a chance to see and feel if this is the career they would like to pursue. After the hoopla on this season's American Idol is over, they might be forgotten with next seasons crop of young wannabees eager to take their own shot at stardom.

Joplin Municipality Airport

Summer time is fast approaching. It only means one thing, travel season. Yeah, I know that gas price is sky high, so much of the Asia'h Epperson folks here, may just stay put at home and read this blog or watch TV. But, for those contemplating on visiting Joplin for a little rest and recreation, and is contemplating on flying to the Joplin area, here's a little something about the Joplin Municipality Ariport.

JLN is owned and operated by the City of Joplin. Located in southwestern Missouri, it serves the commercial, military, cargo, general aviation, and corporate aviation needs of the area.

The Joplin Airport provides all of the services of a large airport with daily non-stop service to Kansas City International Airport, yet with many conveniences travelers are seeking. As gas prices continue to increase, flying Joplin offers travelers a cost savings in comparison of driving to other airports to make connections. Plus, in Joplin there is no fee for parking and the check in and security procedures are much more convenient.

With service provided through Mesa Air Group, 2005 Top Regional Air Service Provider, traveling to Kansas City, a major hub in the Midwest, is convenient and affordable.

Four daily roundtrip flights are offered to Kansas City International Airport. Joplin’s flight schedules allow travelers to leave home in the morning and return to sleep in their own bed that same day.

In addition, the two Joplin Airport Industrial Parks house many locally-owned, regional and national manufacturing industries offering great location and opportunity.

When you have the time, put it in your travel list. It should be a fun place to visit.

David Archuleta and the Stage Dad Rumor

I am one who happens to think that the rumors on his dad affected people's vote on this season's American Idol. I, for one, thought that it gave other people the chance to "not like" the sweet faced young kid.

The rumors started when Naomi Judd who was a judge from a show (Star Search) where David previously was a contestants was reported to have said that the dad [Jeff Archuleta] was "the worst stage dad". This was then followed by reports that his father was banned from the backstage of the American Idol show for having a hand on the change in the lyrics of the song "Stand by Me" that David sang causing AI producers additional money in song rights, whatever.

Somehow, the banning by AI, corroborated (in people's mind) and made it look that the dad was somehow "evil". In a way, giving David a bad publicity and making people pause and think before voting for him. I would think people (especially the older folks) stopped and wonder, "If I vote for David A, would I be rewarding the dad too, Hmmmm..."

It's a Shame
I like the Archuleta kid. I thought he gave the better performance in the finale. It's a shame as the rumor affected his votes (I think). The rumor was certainly a distraction but is David's dad really a stage dad? or was it circulated just to give American Idol additional drama, other juicy and newsworthy "scandal".

I don't think David will grow up the way he has shown to us if not because of his parent's upbringing. David has been sweet, humble and full of enthusiasm. Give that credit to the parents for a good upbringing. The father and son relationship is one of the best type of relationship in the world. In my view, the dad was misunderstood. David seems to be unmindful of the all the talks about his dad. Good for him.

Below are some reactions from David Archuleta himself:
"I heard one thing where [my dad, Jeff] refused to give me water or something like that and that’s the weirdest thing," the American Idol runner-up said Friday in a conference call with reporters. "I mean, I am 17 and you know, if I want water, I am pretty sure I would just go get it anyway."

"He understood that I didn’t like to hear anything going on in the news about me, good or bad, because I didn’t want it to distract me or let it go to my head or anything like that because I just wanted to stay myself as I was at the beginning of the competition before all this happened,"

In the end, good thing American Idol is now over, we can now see who among this crop of talented contestants will go on and have great singing (or showbiz) careers. Kudos to all contestants and the Top 24: David Cook, David Archuleta, Syesha Mercado, Amanda Overmyer, Carlie Smithson, David Hernandez, Jason Castro, Ramiel Malubay, Kristie Lee Cook, Michael Johns, Alaina Whitaker, Alexandria Lushington, Amy Davis, Colton Berry, Danny Noriega, Garrett Haley, Jason Yeager, Joanne Borgella, Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Robbie Carrico, Brooke White, Chakizee, of course, Asia'h Epperson.

To Luke Menard of Idol Season 7: Get Well Soon!

Luke Menard is one of AI Season 7's Top 24 contestant along with Asia'h Epperson.

Recently, in the news, the former American Idol contestant has been reported to have Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer. Luke’s acapella group Chapter 6 put out a statement that he has a very curable cancer and is in good spirits. The group made it clear to his fans that “the prognosis is good.”

Now, I don't know what Hodgkin's lymphoma is, but according to wikipedia,

Hodgkin's lymphoma, also known as Hodgkin's disease, is a type of lymphoma first described by Thomas Hodgkin in 1832. Hodgkin's lymphoma is characterized clinically by the orderly spread of disease from one lymph node group to another and by the development of systemic symptoms with advanced disease. Pathologically, the disease is characterized by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells. Hodgkin's lymphoma was one of the first cancers to be cured by radiation. Later it was one of the first to be cured by combination chemotherapy. The cure rate is about 93%, making it one of the most curable forms of cancer—if it is detected in the early stages. Later-stage cancers show a significantly worse prognosis[1].

Luke, this small community of Asia'h Epperson fans wish you well. You get well soon!

You will be in our prayers.

On David vs David: My Thoughts on AI Season 7 Final

Back to blogging again! I love it when I take some time off for myself and rejuvenate for a while. It keeps you fresh and ready for the next wave of things to come.

On David vs David
Yesterday's show crowned the "Cook" as the new American Idol. Good thing for him. He has shown himself as a really good performer and crowd pleaser. I loved his rendition of the "Billie Jean" song. In my opinion, that's his best performance on the entire show. For the "Archuleta" kid, he will always be a star. His personality is often times dull as he's always nervous and speechless whenever he gets to talk to Ryan after a performance. But I think he will go far and be able to leverage his runner up performance on this season's AI. Hey, the kid can really sing. Hollywood can easily do a personality makeover on this boy.

I'm a bit surprised about the result. Are you?
Going into Tuesday, Archuleta is, of course the clear favorite. I guess for the whole season, he's the clear favorite, as for sure, he'll get the vote of the tweens and the teen crowd. I was actually routing for the "Cook" at this point as I think he's the more commercial whom I think has the better chance of selling more albums than Archuleta.

The "finale" night was a different story though as I saw Archuleta giving all his best and really showing that he wanted to win it. I thought it was his night and he won it handily, to quote Simon, by a knockout. I just didn't sense in Cook's performance that night that he truly wanted to win the competition. He did a fine job but I wasn't blown away. So from wanting to see Cook win, I went out for Archuleta. I thought he deserved to win more than Cook based on their final performance.

And David Cook Wins it!
I was definitely surprised when I learned that Cook won. He's definitely a good singer, no doubt about that, but I was basing my opinion on the last performance as I thought Archuleta clearly came out as the winner on that one. Well, we always never know how things really work. Other people will have their own opinion and I respect that. America has voted and by a clear margin of 12 million votes that went for David Cook. I wonder if many people were turned off by Archuleta's dad that's why they didn't vote for him. We can only wonder.

So, a big congratulation to David Cook!!! Season 7's American Idol winner. All yeah fans of Asia'h Epperson, let's clap our hands.

Asia'h Epperson Biography

I was checking online if I could get new information on Asia'h when I stumbled upon a site I think is the official MySpace profile of Asia'h Epperson. I'm just not sure if it is really hers. As we know, it's so easy to impersonate and use another person's name online.

Asia'h Epperson on American Idol Gives Back?

In my previous post regarding rumors on the possible return of American Idol contestants, which may include Asia'h Epperson, the web was abuzz with her and other contestant's return. Well, until now, there's no news about it so it seems that it's just that, a rumor.

Regarding the Idol Gives Back special on April 9, it is reported that Ellen DeGeneres will not be co-hosting the show anymore. According to American Idol producer, Nigel Lythgoe, the popular TV host has to cancel due to personal production pressure. There's no words yet on who will replace her.

Even without Ellen co-hosting the show, the Idol Gives Back special has an illustrious list of celebrities that will support and participate in the show. It will feature appearances by Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, just to name a few. Boyz II Men, Gloria Estefan, Heart and Maroon 5 are said to be performing in the event too.

For this year, the following are the charities to be supported, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Save The Children, the Children’s Defense Fund, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Children’s Health Fund, Make It Right and Malaria No More.

The special will definitely be a good one for all AI fans as it will include production numbers that include their favorite Idol contestants. Will it include contestants in the Top 24 or just those in the Top 10? Are we going to see Asia'h Epperson in the show? We don't know.

So, Asia'h Epperson fans, it's for a good cause, let's all help make it a success!

Asia'h Epperson Performs at Springfield

As was posted in a previous article, Asia'h Sings Live at the Hammons Field, Asia'h performed at the first baseball game of the Springfield Cardinals for the season at the Hammons field in Springfield, MO. She was supposed to sing the National Anthem at the opening but instead sang "God Bless America" in the seventh inning stretch due to delays at the airport.

Below is a video that includes an interview with local channel KSPR's Joe Daues about her time on the show, and her life after Idol. There's a lot of good information about her on the video so keep watching.

Asia'h Epperson News From Her Town's Newspaper

I wanted this blog to be a repository of all relevant articles about Asia'h Epperson that's why I'm digging the internet and news sites to find articles about her. The list below are articles taken from her hometown Joplin,MO newspaper, The Joplin Globe.

Local newspapers are usually the best source of information regarding an American Idol contestant. Every AI contestant always have a good amount of following in his/her hometown and is always newsworthy even if the competition is over. Of course, townmates will embrace one of there own. I'm sure all of Joplin is proud of their very own, Asia'h Epperson.

I think Asia'h will make it big in the entertainment industry someday. At 19, she's still very young but the future is bright for her. As per Paula, "American Idol is not the end, instead, its the beginning of something great". As shown in American Idol, Asiah's got that "IT" factor. I think, in the near future, we'll see Asia'h Epperson back with a new album in hand. Now, that would be great for all her fans around the world. Cheers from Canada!

American Idol Rumor: Good for Asia'h?

Is Asia'h Epperson and the other AI contestants who were voted off coming backing to the show? There's a rumor going around on the net that says some of those voted off will be allowed a second chance to come back. Are they going back as wild-card contestants? or are the producers just picking one to join the top 10 on the American Idol tours? Details are kinda fuzzy right now. In truth, I think the latter is much more probable than the former. Although, I wish they do the former.

From the rumors, five of the top 24 who failed to make the top 10 will return to the American Idol stage for the April 9th Idol Gives Back charity special. Nothing is official yet regarding this though so cross your fingers.

The Idol Gives Back special
Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is set to co-host the Idol Gives Back charity campaign with Ryan Seacrest. It is estimated that the successful show last year raised more than $76 million for a lot of charities that included Save The Children, Children's Health Fund and the Children's Defense Fund.

Last week, Fox has announced that a number of artists and celebrities will be taking part in the April 9th charity show. It include Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and former American Idol contestants Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood.

More on the Idol Rumor
Check out the link below:
Reality Rocks on Yahoo!

I'll see if there are new updates regarding this rumor. It would be nice to see Asia'h Epperson on the Idol stage again, if this is true.

Hometown of Asia'h Epperson : Joplin, MO

The relatively unknown town of Joplin, Missouri suddenly was placed in the map with Asia'h Epperson's entry to the American Idol Contest. From this Missouri town, Asia'h was born and raised. But, where exactly is Joplin, MO? Here's what I found.

The City of Joplin became a full-service municipality when it was incorporated in 1873. Located at the edge of the Ozark Mountain region, Joplin has a current population of 49,024. Situated in southwest Missouri in the "four states" region encompassing Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas, it combines the beauty and hospitality of country living with the convenience and commerce of city vitality.

Joplin is located where Interstate Highway 44 and U.S. Highway 71 meet. It is Missouri’s fourth largest metropolitan area and serves as the financial, cultural, and commercial center of the area. It is readily accessible to numerous clear-water streams, vacation attractions and eight major lakes. Its regional airport also provides access to major transportation centers.

To learn more about Epperson's hometown of Joplin, check out the wikipedia entry for the town below:
Joplin's wiki

I'm sure that Joplin, MO was as saddened like me when Asia'h was voted off so early in the competition. Well, from this town came one of the season's more soulful voice and talented singer ready to take AI by storm. Even though her father passed away due to a car accident two days prior, she stormed the audition in Atlanta and "WOW'd" the three judges with her rendition of LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live". A truly great tribute to her late father.

As we know, Asia'h Epperson's quest to become the next American Idol is now done. It would have been a great gift to her town had she continued on. It seems this year is Joplin's 135th birthday. Happy Birthday Joplin, MO!

What Now for Asia'h Epperson?

Asia'h Epperson ... aargh ... Asia'h Epperson .... tsk .. tskk ...

March 6, 2008 will go down in history as another day of infamy! No, China didn't assasinate the Dalai Lama [let me just squeeze here my .. FREE TIBET! cry] ... No, Obama didn't bite Hillary Clinton's ear in their fight for the Democratic nomination (ala Mike Tyson) ... much much worst .... it's the day my American Idol Asia'h Epperson was booted out of the Fox TV program.

Yes, Asia'h fans, grieve with me! Wear your best funeral wardrobe now. It's a monstrosity, an abberation of the existential kind! (whatever that means) Asiah booted out! ... I just can't imagine it! It just won't get out of my mind. I am very sure she's gonna be this season's American Idol but what the hell happened. How could it be? I've used up all three of my phones (1 office, 1 cell phone, 1 home phone) to vote for her. Still, this? America is probably deaf, yes, that's probably it.

Season 7 will never be the same without her. I vividly remembered that fateful night. Tears rolled down my face like the A-bomb being dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. When Ryan Seacrest said that it's the end of line for her, I was stunned. I couldn't feel anything for a second. Speechless, Confused, Dazed?!%

A Historical Perspective:

March 6, 1831: Edgar Allen Poe removed from West Point military academy
March 6, 1918: U.S. naval boat "Cyclops" disappears in Bermuda Triangle
March 6, 1936: Belgium ends Locarno-pact
March 6, 1974: An Italian loses a record $1,920,000 at roulette in Monte Carlo

March 6, 2008: Asia'h Epperson was voted off the American Idol Season 7

Surely March 6 will go down in history as one of the darkest days specially to all the Asia'h fans out there.

Back to reality
Enough of my long-winded rant, pardon me, (I'm melodramatic ... LOL) it's just my way of saying “Sh** happens!”. Stuff like that happens to the best of them. It's a fact of life and we have to move on. I'm sure she's gonna be successful in her chosen career, be it singing, acting or modelling or whatever. American Idol is not the end of the line. It's just the beginning.

Looking for Asia'h Epperson online
Seriously, searching for information online regarding Ms. Epperson is proving to be a challenge for me. I don't see any “Asia'h Epperson: Official Website” out there. I couldn't even find her Myspace or Facebook profile. Information on her is scant. I can't find anything, other than the fast facts below (taken from the American Idol website):

Age: 19
Hometown: Joplin, MO
Favorite Quote: "Speak it into existence! You receive blessings through struggle. Appreciate it!"
Audition City: Atlanta
Musical Influences: Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton.

Did you see her fave quote above? That's kinda deep. I would love to ask her what it means and how it became her favorite quotes.

From some of the American idol video that featured Asia'h, we found out that she's a small town country girl (Joplin, MO) who has been singing since she was three years old. From a family picture shown, it seems she has two brothers and is the oldest and the only girl. Her mom looks white and her dad is black. What a good combination, as she seems to possess the best of both races. Before "American Idol," she was a waitress at two restaurants in Joplin. In her spare time, Epperson enjoys dancing and acting and also has a passion for makeup and fashion.

What's in the name? Of Asia'h, Asiah, Aisa'h or Asia Epperson
In addition to being a gorgeous and talented singer, I really love her name. Asia'h is such a unique name. It's actually my first time to hear of a person with such a name. Hmmm... where did her parent got her name? another good question to ask Asia'h about. I got so curious so I search online to see if there are any other with such a name, it actually yielded other people with the same first name, an Asiah Georgia and an Asiah Lewis came out.

She's very talented, very pretty and I'm sure she would have a great career ahead of her. What's next for her? Here's her response (taken from the American Idol website)

“I really believe the sky's the limit for me. I'm going to take every opportunity that I can. I've been in drama and stuff like that through middle school and high school.
