As was posted in a previous article, Asia'h Sings Live at the Hammons Field, Asia'h performed at the first baseball game of the Springfield Cardinals for the season at the Hammons field in Springfield, MO. She was supposed to sing the National Anthem at the opening but instead sang "God Bless America" in the seventh inning stretch due to delays at the airport.
Below is a video that includes an interview with local channel KSPR's Joe Daues about her time on the show, and her life after Idol. There's a lot of good information about her on the video so keep watching.

The Earth Hour
On March 29, 2008 at 8 p.m., join millions of people around the world in making a statement about climate change by turning off your lights for Earth Hour, an event created by the World Wildlife Fund.
Earth Hour was created by WWF in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and in one year has grown from an event in one city to a global movement. In 2008, millions of people, businesses, governments and civic organizations in nearly 200 cities around the globe will turn out for Earth Hour. More than 100 cities across North America will participate, including the US flagships–Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix and San Francisco and Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. View cities involved around the world.
We invite everyone throughout North America and around the world to turn off the lights for an hour starting at 8 p.m. (your own local time)–whether at home or at work, with friends and family or solo, in a big city or a small town.
Some Suggestions On What You Can Do During That One Hour?
You can light a candle and have a dinner with candle light with the family. You can gather the whole family or your neighbors and friends and tell stories to each other. You can sleep, write a poem, write a letter, sing to yourself. Be creative and it will be a fun one hour. You can make it a good break from your normal routine.
Let's show our love to Mother Earth and the future generation. Please, let's all participate.

The following are photos of Asia'h Epperson I found from the Getty Images collection. There's this new service that allows bloggers to embed photos from the Getty collection for free and without worry of copyright violations. If you look at the images below, they seem to embed some ads on it. That's probably how they make money from this service.

Asia'h Epperson News From Her Town's Newspaper
I wanted this blog to be a repository of all relevant articles about Asia'h Epperson that's why I'm digging the internet and news sites to find articles about her. The list below are articles taken from her hometown Joplin,MO newspaper, The Joplin Globe.
Local newspapers are usually the best source of information regarding an American Idol contestant. Every AI contestant always have a good amount of following in his/her hometown and is always newsworthy even if the competition is over. Of course, townmates will embrace one of there own. I'm sure all of Joplin is proud of their very own, Asia'h Epperson.

I think Asia'h will make it big in the entertainment industry someday. At 19, she's still very young but the future is bright for her. As per Paula, "American Idol is not the end, instead, its the beginning of something great". As shown in American Idol, Asiah's got that "IT" factor. I think, in the near future, we'll see Asia'h Epperson back with a new album in hand. Now, that would be great for all her fans around the world. Cheers from Canada!

American Idol Rumor: Good for Asia'h?
Is Asia'h Epperson and the other AI contestants who were voted off coming backing to the show? There's a rumor going around on the net that says some of those voted off will be allowed a second chance to come back. Are they going back as wild-card contestants? or are the producers just picking one to join the top 10 on the American Idol tours? Details are kinda fuzzy right now. In truth, I think the latter is much more probable than the former. Although, I wish they do the former.
From the rumors, five of the top 24 who failed to make the top 10 will return to the American Idol stage for the April 9th Idol Gives Back charity special. Nothing is official yet regarding this though so cross your fingers.
The Idol Gives Back special
Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is set to co-host the Idol Gives Back charity campaign with Ryan Seacrest. It is estimated that the successful show last year raised more than $76 million for a lot of charities that included Save The Children, Children's Health Fund and the Children's Defense Fund.
Last week, Fox has announced that a number of artists and celebrities will be taking part in the April 9th charity show. It include Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and former American Idol contestants Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood.

I'll see if there are new updates regarding this rumor. It would be nice to see Asia'h Epperson on the Idol stage again, if this is true.
Hometown of Asia'h Epperson : Joplin, MO
The relatively unknown town of Joplin, Missouri suddenly was placed in the map with Asia'h Epperson's entry to the American Idol Contest. From this Missouri town, Asia'h was born and raised. But, where exactly is Joplin, MO? Here's what I found.
The City of Joplin became a full-service municipality when it was incorporated in 1873. Located at the edge of the Ozark Mountain region, Joplin has a current population of 49,024. Situated in southwest Missouri in the "four states" region encompassing Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas, it combines the beauty and hospitality of country living with the convenience and commerce of city vitality.
Joplin is located where Interstate Highway 44 and U.S. Highway 71 meet. It is Missouri’s fourth largest metropolitan area and serves as the financial, cultural, and commercial center of the area. It is readily accessible to numerous clear-water streams, vacation attractions and eight major lakes. Its regional airport also provides access to major transportation centers.
To learn more about Epperson's hometown of Joplin, check out the wikipedia entry for the town below:
Joplin's wiki
I'm sure that Joplin, MO was as saddened like me when Asia'h was voted off so early in the competition. Well, from this town came one of the season's more soulful voice and talented singer ready to take AI by storm. Even though her father passed away due to a car accident two days prior, she stormed the audition in Atlanta and "WOW'd" the three judges with her rendition of LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live". A truly great tribute to her late father.
As we know, Asia'h Epperson's quest to become the next American Idol is now done. It would have been a great gift to her town had she continued on. It seems this year is Joplin's 135th birthday. Happy Birthday Joplin, MO!
What Now for Asia'h Epperson?
Asia'h Epperson ... aargh ... Asia'h Epperson .... tsk .. tskk ...
March 6, 2008 will go down in history as another day of infamy! No, China didn't assasinate the Dalai Lama [let me just squeeze here my .. FREE TIBET! cry] ... No, Obama didn't bite Hillary Clinton's ear in their fight for the Democratic nomination (ala Mike Tyson) ... much much worst .... it's the day my American Idol Asia'h Epperson was booted out of the Fox TV program.
Yes, Asia'h fans, grieve with me! Wear your best funeral wardrobe now. It's a monstrosity, an abberation of the existential kind! (whatever that means) Asiah booted out! ... I just can't imagine it! It just won't get out of my mind. I am very sure she's gonna be this season's American Idol but what the hell happened. How could it be? I've used up all three of my phones (1 office, 1 cell phone, 1 home phone) to vote for her. Still, this? America is probably deaf, yes, that's probably it.
Season 7 will never be the same without her. I vividly remembered that fateful night. Tears rolled down my face like the A-bomb being dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. When Ryan Seacrest said that it's the end of line for her, I was stunned. I couldn't feel anything for a second. Speechless, Confused, Dazed?!%
A Historical Perspective:
March 6, 1831: Edgar Allen Poe removed from West Point military academy
March 6, 1918: U.S. naval boat "Cyclops" disappears in Bermuda Triangle
March 6, 1936: Belgium ends Locarno-pact
March 6, 1974: An Italian loses a record $1,920,000 at roulette in Monte Carlo
Now....
March 6, 2008: Asia'h Epperson was voted off the American Idol Season 7
Surely March 6 will go down in history as one of the darkest days specially to all the Asia'h fans out there.
Back to reality
Enough of my long-winded rant, pardon me, (I'm melodramatic ... LOL) it's just my way of saying “Sh** happens!”. Stuff like that happens to the best of them. It's a fact of life and we have to move on. I'm sure she's gonna be successful in her chosen career, be it singing, acting or modelling or whatever. American Idol is not the end of the line. It's just the beginning.
Looking for Asia'h Epperson online
Seriously, searching for information online regarding Ms. Epperson is proving to be a challenge for me. I don't see any “Asia'h Epperson: Official Website” out there. I couldn't even find her Myspace or Facebook profile. Information on her is scant. I can't find anything, other than the fast facts below (taken from the American Idol website):
Age: 19
Hometown: Joplin, MO
Favorite Quote: "Speak it into existence! You receive blessings through struggle. Appreciate it!"
Audition City: Atlanta
Musical Influences: Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton.
Did you see her fave quote above? That's kinda deep. I would love to ask her what it means and how it became her favorite quotes.
From some of the American idol video that featured Asia'h, we found out that she's a small town country girl (Joplin, MO) who has been singing since she was three years old. From a family picture shown, it seems she has two brothers and is the oldest and the only girl. Her mom looks white and her dad is black. What a good combination, as she seems to possess the best of both races. Before "American Idol," she was a waitress at two restaurants in Joplin. In her spare time, Epperson enjoys dancing and acting and also has a passion for makeup and fashion.
Asiah Epperson's American Idol Audition
What's in the name? Of Asia'h, Asiah, Aisa'h or Asia Epperson
In addition to being a gorgeous and talented singer, I really love her name. Asia'h is such a unique name. It's actually my first time to hear of a person with such a name. Hmmm... where did her parent got her name? another good question to ask Asia'h about. I got so curious so I search online to see if there are any other with such a name, it actually yielded other people with the same first name, an Asiah Georgia and an Asiah Lewis came out.

Latest News on Asia'h Epperson
I'm really dying to hear what she's up to right now. Hope she finds out about this blog and give us a shout and an interview. It would be nice to know more about her. She's very talented, very pretty and I'm sure she would have a great career ahead of her. What's next for her? Here's her response (taken from the American Idol website)
“I really believe the sky's the limit for me. I'm going to take every opportunity that I can. I've been in drama and stuff like that through middle school and high school. So maybe some acting, some commercials, maybe a little bit of modeling here and there. But definitely music, music, music! Music's gonna stay in that -- it's my heart and soul.”

Asiah Epperson's American Idol Audition: Atlanta
The video above is our first glimpse of Asia'h. It's a feature video on her in the Atlanta auditions. Paula Abdul was in tears.
Asiah Epperson's American Idol Audition: HollyWood

Asia'h Epperson Singing "Piece Of My Heart"
Another great performance of Asia'h. It's a very impressive rendition of the song. It's such a fun and bubbly performance. Her bubbly personality shined through on this one.
